5 Best Classical Comedies And Their IMDb Rating

The comedies today as on big screens are not often classified as sticking true to the themes. They are at times aberrant from the very purpose. The newer ones are arrant nonsense with gratuitous innuendos and filthy prejudices.

But Bollywood has not always been such. There are still gems embellished to its names. In comedies specifically, the comic timings and the dialogical amusements are worth approbation. Of course, there is a reason why they are called classic comedies.

2. Jane Bhi Do Yaro (1983)- 8.4 Rating

The movie has all the reasons to be a must-watch. With legendary cast ensemble including Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapoor, Satish Kaushik and many, the movie will keep you fixated with not just an insanely funny plot but the cynical undertones throughout. 3. Angoor (1982)- 8.3 Rating

With a script inspired by Shakespeare’s Comedy Of Errors, the movie is a complete family entertainer. The actings by Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma seems like perfectionist illusions. 4. Chupke Chupke (1975)- 8.3 Rating

Again an ensemble cast of Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore, Amitabh Bacchan, and Jaya Bacchan in the lead roles, the movie is a legacy in laughter. A clean movie with love, comedy and drama embedded has certainly an image of timelessness attached to it. 5. Chhoti Si Baat (1976)- 8.3 Rating

A sweet memoir of the era of the late 70s, the movie at its core is a love triangle with comical settings. The movie with Amol Palekar as one of the lead roles wakes you up from the slumbers of unacknowledgment and beautifully shows how comedy is so often based on the minutiae of daily life. The movies listed above at the very least distinguish with flying colours the nuances and subtleties of a good comedy. The cinema no doubt has ameliorated and aggrandized in every aspect but with the reasons which are ostensible old is most of times gold.
